Our commitment
Life Line Africa works to protect children from violence, neglect, abuse and unsafe environments. Safeguarding is not a separate activity for us — it is part of the Security and Safety pillar and applies to every programme, session and partnership.
What we expect of everyone working with us
- Treat every child with respect and never use physical or humiliating discipline.
- Never be alone with a child in a way that cannot be observed by another adult.
- Report any concern about a child's safety promptly, however uncertain it feels.
- Respect confidentiality and share information only with those who need it.
- Follow the instructions of parents, caregivers and community structures.
These expectations apply to staff, facilitators, volunteers, partners and any visitor attending an activity.
Raising a concern
If you have a concern about a child's immediate safety, contact local authorities or emergency services first. You can then inform the organization by telephone on +255 745 716 728 or by email at lifelineafrica1@gmail.com. Concerns are handled confidentially.
Image and storytelling dignity principles
- We seek informed consent from a parent or caregiver, and from the child where they are old enough to give it, before photographing or describing them.
- We do not publish images or stories that show children in degrading, exploitative or pity-focused ways.
- We do not identify vulnerable children in sensitive situations, and we withhold names, locations or details when publishing could put someone at risk.
- We describe families as capable people making decisions for their children, not as recipients of rescue.
- We do not stage scenes to look more severe than reality, and captions describe what is actually happening.
- Consent can be withdrawn, and we remove material on request.
Photography currently used on this website is illustrative of the settings we work in. Documentary images of Life Line Africa activities will replace it as programmes are documented with proper consent.
