About

A grassroots initiative, formally organised

Life Line Africa strengthens the whole environment around a child — learning, health, nutrition, safety, emotional care, family capacity and youth opportunity.

Who we are

Life Line Africa is a non-profit organization registered in Tanzania. We work with children, youth, parents, caregivers, families, educators, health professionals, community leaders, donors, volunteers and local institutions to improve the conditions children grow up in.

Our work covers opportunities for early learning, good health, adequate nutrition, security and safety, and responsive caregiving. Alongside these pillars we support talent development, youth mentorship and coaching, parenting skills, child protection, gender equality and equity, career education, social-emotional skills, business thinking and innovation among children and youth.

Our history

Life Line Africa began as a grassroots initiative in the Kilimanjaro Region, formed by people already living and working in the communities it now serves. It was officially registered as a non-profit organization in October 2022.

Today the organization works in the Kilimanjaro Region — especially Bomang'ombe and Hai District — and in the Arusha Region, with a long-term ambition to expand responsibly across Tanzania and Africa.

Why the organization was formed

Children's earliest years shape everything that follows, yet the support around them is often fragmented: learning is treated separately from health, nutrition separately from safety, and caregivers are rarely equipped with practical skills. Life Line Africa was formed to work on that whole environment at once — teaching and equipping parents, caregivers and communities so that children receive appropriate early childhood care, education, protection and responsive support.

Objectives

What we set out to achieve

Our objectives follow directly from the five pillars and the wider work with youth and families.

  1. 01Create opportunities for early learning for young children through informed parents, caregivers and community learning spaces.
  2. 02Promote good health for children and families through education and linkage to local health services.
  3. 03Improve nutrition in pregnancy and early childhood, including support for community kitchen gardens.
  4. 04Strengthen security and safety for children through child protection, children's rights and community safeguarding.
  5. 05Build responsive caregiving so children experience affection, attention and consistent, positive care.
  6. 06Develop the talents of children and young people through mentorship, coaching and career education.
  7. 07Equip children and youth with social-emotional skills, business thinking and innovation.
  8. 08Advance gender equality and equity in learning, care and opportunity.
  9. 09Strengthen families and caregivers so that the whole environment around a child improves.
